Feeling Clueless

Lately, as I said in my last post, I have been FEELIN’ the 90s and the warm LA sunshine the past couple days has allowed me to break out my collection of mini skirts (usually reserved for the summer months). I added some thigh highs and chunky sandals which is TOTALLY something Cher would do in Clueless but instead maybe with a matching plaid top and skirt.

I’m wearing: A Topshop top (from summer/Europe)// Velvet Urban Outfitters Circle Skirt (last fall)// American Apparel Thigh Highs// Steve Madden Sandals// “Dream” Necklace Nordstrom.

The store Playclothes, is a goldmine of classic clothing, accessories, shoes and basically anything you ever would want to find from decades past. From their eclectic hat collection to their groovy 60s and 70s matching seperates there’s sure to be something there for anyone looking for a unique find. 1553243_701176399926797_957809294_o 1557522_701174279927009_245657767_n   1505513_701176153260155_1864324569_n              Morgan trying on a cool psychedelic maxi dress in one of the stores elaborately decorated fitting rooms.

LA Fashion Week

Yesterday I had the opportunity to volunteer backstage for Los Angeles Fashion Week presented by the Los Angeles Fashion Council at The Grove LA. It was a great experience getting to meet new and upcoming designers and seeing their innovative designs walk the runway. One of my favorite new designers, Rose La Grua had one of the most unique lines, with KILLER shoes (literally), I’m expecting to see more of her designs in the future.

Since I’m currently in school full time and picking up a part-time internship as well, I’m extremely busy and don’t have time to update the blog as regularly as I’d like to. If you want to see what I’m up to on a more regular basis please follow me on:

LA Textile Show

On Tuesday October 1st, I had the opportunity to attend the LA Textile Show with one of my classes from school at the California Market Center in Downtown LA. It was a very special opportunity seeing that students are not regularly allowed into industry events such as this. At the show we learned about color forecasting for the Fall/Winter 2014 season. We got the insight on what colors we should look forward to and where they will be used i.e: women’s wear, kids, or home to name a few. We were told by experts to expect many deep navys, nude/earth tones, purples and animal/skin prints for the upcoming season. It was really amazing to see all the fabrics that designers and buyers were browsing to actually use in future collections. I didn’t realize how big that part of the process is and it’s really where fashion begins. Textiles are where the creative process is born and I find it so incredibly interesting to see in person.

Next week I will be attending and volunteering at Fashion Week LA and plan on sharing some of my experience here. So be on the lookout!

Here are some snaps from the textile show:

Mystery Solved: Colored Jeans

Last year, bright and bold colors and patterns began popping up in the bottom half of outfits. Now these stem statement making pieces can be seen in nearly every store around. Above, I shared my secrets to finding the perfect pair (or two) on a budget but still splurging with style. These babies look fab paired with a t-shirt, blazer and cutie booties!

My picks: Old Navy Grape cotton skinnies $34.50// Brown Anthropologie Cords $88// AE Sateen Jegging $45// Rose Print Denim $58// Pink Skinnies $49.50.

Santa, I’ve been REALLY GOOD this year….

Since Halloween has passed and we are now well into the month of November, the Holidays are rapidly approaching, and you know what that means? FOOD, WEIGHT GAIN, FAMILY AND PRESENTS!

To help Santa out, I have already started to put together some gift ideas for me this year (I know SO generous). My Pinterest board called Santa, I’ve been a really good girl…  has some really great gift finds plus maybe some early gift ideas for you and your loved ones.

BRING ON THE HOLIDAYS!

PS: That photo above (on the right) is really me as a child!

King of the Katwalk

In the world of women’s shoes, there is one king that reigns over every other brand. That king is Jeffrey Campbell. His designs may seem funky and outrageous, but really can be rocked by any daring gal out there. Above are some of my favorite pics. The pair I am DYING to purchase are the pair in the top left corner, the Rum Moto Boot $175 (exclusive to Nasty Gal). I think they’ll be putting a dent in next weeks paycheck. Just wish I could try them on first though! 😉

Pre-Halloween 2012

Pictured Above: Gold One Piece $30// Disco Short $52// Terry Headband $6// Knee High Sock $10

This year, I am especially excited for Halloween because I have a BANGIN’ costume and several fun events I’ll be sporting it at. This Halloween, American Apparel  has put together an AMAZING campaign of costume ideas which have inspired me to go tight and short this year. Above are some of my pics for the costume I am creating. I’m going to be a GROOVY DISCO DIVA and couldn’t be more excited! Next Saturday, I’ll be wearing the costume to the costume party at my work which should be a TON of fun. Then, on Halloween night, I’ll be attending the fab parade in West Hollywood with the other thousands of Halloween lovers. Expect pictures to come!!!
